Barcelona Airport Guide
Barcelona Airport is located south-west of the city of Barcelona, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi. It is just 3 km from the Port of Barcelona, one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean for container traffic and the leader in the cruise market. It is also located near the Free Zone Consortium, one of the most important industrial and logistics centres in Spain.
Barcelona Airport constitutes a cornerstone of the Catalan economy and is particularly important for the business sector and tourism industry. To modernise and prepare Barcelona Airport for future air traffic demands, major improvements to infrastructure and services are currently being conducted. The Barcelona Plan will transform the airport with the construction of a new terminal area and the extension of the airfield with a new runway, in addition to other relevant infrastructures.
These improvements will consolidate Barcelona as a major European hub airport, increasing both its domestic and international connections.
Since the Olympic Games were held, passenger traffic at the Barcelona airport has increased by over 100%, growing from 10 million passengers in 1992 to over 27 million in 2004. In 2005, it handled 27,152,745 passengers, 307,811 flight operations and 90,446 tonnes of cargo.

To guarantee smooth traffic, a tow truck will remove all vehicles parked in unauthorised spots and the offender will be charged a fine.
Once you leave the vehicle, do not leave valuables in sight and be sure to lock the doors. Take the ticket with you and do not lose it. Remember your parking space number.
To leave the car park, you must pay the parking fee before removing the vehicle. There are 21 automatic payment machines located in the terminal lobbies, at the pedestrian entries to the car park and on the ground and second floors (next to the airbridge) in buildings PA and PC. After making the payment, remove the validated ticket from the machine and go to your vehicle. You have 20 minutes to leave the car park. To leave, insert the ticket in the ticket machine located in each lane.
If you have lost the ticket or you have any problems, request information by pressing the button available on all of the automatic payment machines or go to the information centre. If your car battery does not work, the car park operators will start your car free of charge.
